GUIDELINES
Please submit all your poems in one document to a single regional editor using the form at the bottom of this page.
WHEN TO SUBMIT
Submissions are accepted June 15 to October 15 each year. Submissions sent in outside of the submission period will not be read.
WHO CAN SUBMIT
Submissions are open to all who live, work, reside, go to school in or visit the San Diego area, or those who have relatives, friends or another association with our region.
WHAT TO SUBMIT
Poets can submit up to three (3) poems for consideration, on any theme or subject matter. New, previously unpublished work ONLY. While there are NO restrictions on length, poets are encouraged to send shorter work so that more poets can be included in the anthology. The dual goals of the San Diego Poetry Annual are excellence and the celebration of diversity within our region.
COST
Poets are never charged a fee of any sort. Poets are not required to buy a copy of the annual, but copies will be made available to contributing poets at a special price, discounted to actual cost. The Publisher (San Diego Entertainment & Arts Guild) makes no profit on sales to contributing poets. Visit our How to Order page for details.
HOW MUCH DOES IT PAY?
Contributing poets receive a complimentary PDF of the annual, available on this website for viewing and downloading. There is no cash payment. Instead of providing free printed copies to contributing poets, printed copies are donated in the name of contributing poets to college, university and public libraries throughout San Diego County to ensure the permanence of the annual.
As a result, the San Diego Poetry Annual is part of the permanent collections of every college and university library in San Diego County, the county library system, the San Diego City Library system, and the libraries of independent cities within the county, including Oceanside, Escondido, Carlsbad, Chula Vista and National City.
COPYRIGHT OWNERSHIP
The annual takes only the first right of publication. Following our publication, the poet retains full copyright ownership and control of his/her poem(s).
WHEN WILL THE NEW ANNUAL BE PUBLISHED?
The annual is published March 1st of each calendar year. Celebratory readings from the new annual begin in April.
HOW WILL I KNOW IF MY WORK HAS BEEN ACCEPTED?
Poets whose work is accepted for publication are informed by e-mail and/or through the listing of their names and poems on this website. The e-mails are sent by Regional Editors from October through March. The listing of poets and poems appears in late February or early March of each year.
WHERE CAN I BUY A COPY OF THE ANNUAL?
The new annual is available online at amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com and powells.com, and can be ordered through any bookstore.

Olga is a poet, translator, physicist and mathematician, and a Tijuana-San Diego cultural promoter who writes in English and Spanish. She is the editor of Anuario de Poesía de San Diego, the San Diego Poetry Annual bilingual edition, and a member of San Diego Haiku Study Group. Her latest poetry books ÍÍÉ, Dark Matter, and Emily were published in Mexico and Visitaciones in Chile. These collections were signed under the name Olga Gutiérrez Galindo (enriKetta luissi).

CONVOCATORIA DEL ANUARIO DE POESÍA DE SAN DIEGO 2024-25.
Te invitamos a enviarnos un poema, de preferencia inédito, que no supere una cuartilla, escrito originalmente en español, y su traducción al inglés. (Times New Roman, 12p, espacio sencillo). También en este formato una ficha biográfica, con extensión menor a 5 líneas, del poeta y del traductor/a, en inglés y en español. Fecha límite de recepción: 30 de septiembre del 2024. La publicación saldrá en marzo del año entrante y se elegirá un poema para mandarlo a concurso por el Pushcart Prize.
